Valorant Launches Full Release With 1.0 Update

by Mike Stubbs

Valorant is finally available for the gaming public to download, with developer Riot Games unveiling a major update to the hotly awaiting title.

Having been restricted to closed beta play for the past couple of months, Valorant went offline for a few days while Riot made the final preparations for the game’s launch.

The team behind Valorant have clearly been busy as the game’s release comes with a brand new agent – Reyna – as well as a fresh open playground known as Ascent.

Changes have also been made to Sage, Omen, Phoenix, Raze and Jett in order to balance them properly for Valorant’s launch.

“The devil’s in the details, but know that getting performance where we want for all players is an ongoing process we hope to nail down in the next few patches,” said a statement from Riot.

Valorant is expected to become one of the top esports around this year, with Riot Games having high hopes it can be a successor to League of Legends.

But what are some of the major changes that have been made for Valorant’s full release?

Busy patch notes to be welcomed by gamers

The closed beta allowed Riot Games to gather a huge amount of data on Valorant and it has put that research to work on the first full update for the game.

Various agents have been buffed and nerfed in order to bring more balance to gameplay with Sage’s healing orb cooldown being increased as a top example.

Blast Pack maximum damage radius for Raze has been reduced while Jett’s Cloud Burst smoke duration has been increased for the full Valorant release.

Blaze duration for Phoenix has been increased and Omen has been equipped with paranoia instead of quickcast. Omen’s Dark Cover controls have been updated as well.

However, Riot noted that a competitive mode will not be on Valorant at the game’s launch.

“Our initial focus is making sure our service is stable before activating competitive matchmaking,” the developer said.

Valorant players will also be keen to try out the new Ascent map, which is set in Italy, while Split has been given a restructured mid chokepoint.
