The Valorant Ignition series got underway last weekend with the G2 Valorant Invitational RAGE x VALORANT tournament.
but this weekend sees the first truly competitive competition in a major region with the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown set to feature only the best Valorant teams from North America.
Unlike the G2 competition last weekend this tournament features pro rosters and not teams that were randomly drawn just days before the event started, so hopefully, the level of competition will be significantly higher.
T1, Gen.G, Sentinels, Immortals, TSM, Cloud9, Mixup, Team Ninja, Code 7 and Charlotte Phoenix have all been invited to the competition, with two more invitations still to be announced.
Joining them will be together we are terrific, Echo 8, Spot Up and Prospects, who all made it to the tournament through the qualifiers.
The 16 team field will be split into four groups, which will all be played on July 26th. The top two teams from each group will advance into the double-elimination bracket, with the bottom two being eliminated.
The best of five grand finals, which sees the team from the winner bracket starts with a 1-0 advantage, will then take place on July 28th.
The $50,000 prize pool is the largest we have seen in the Ignition Series so far, and as a result, only the top teams are competing for it.
With so many top-level teams that have played together for quite a while, we should see more high-level strategies and team coordination than in other competitions, which makes this a must-watch.
All of the action will be streamed on the T1 Twitch channel, with names such as Chris “Puckett” Puckett, Lauren “Pansy” Scott and Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez on hand to cast the action. This is one tournament you do not want to miss.
