To say the start of the LEC Summer Split has been unusual would be an understatement.
Not only have the content team knocked it out of the park with the weird and wacky content, the teams are still playing remotely and the studio is empty apart from the broadcast talent, giving the league a very strange feeling.
On the Rift, things have also been somewhat unusual, with G2, the team many consider to be the best in the competition getting off to a slow start in week one losing two of their three matches, one to Origen and the other to Team Vitality.
But with week three just around the corner G2 are looking to return to the spot they see as theirs at the top of the table.
Their match against SK will be no walk in the park, but it’s their second clash against Fnatic that is the real mouthwatering matchup.
The two teams are considered two of the best in Europe, and this is a clash of the titans of the LEC that could have a massive impact on who takes the top spot in the regular season.
Elsewhere in the LEC standout matches include FC Schalke 04 vs Excel Esports in a bottom of the table clash, with Excel being the only team out of them to have won a game so far this split.
Rouge’s matches should also be worth a watch, as they face off against third-place Fnatic and top place Mad Lions.
Rouge themselves are joint top with Mad Lions, so this really could not be a harder week for the team that has turned around their online form this split.
